places to go, people to meet
I have just written a series of children's books which are self-published on Lulu.
Does anybod have any advice on how, and where, I can promote them?
I have a group and a page running on Facebook, but as we all know......!!
Any help would be much appreciated.....

There are several (actually, it seems more like thousands) of special interest groups, so there's probably one for children's books (I write the other end of the spectrum, so I don't know nuthin' about children's books). Most interest groups have a place to promote yourself. There are also groups for authors where they exchange advice like how to promote yourself - and you want to read carefully the cautions about self-promotion. GR can be a somewhat unfriendly place for an author if you step over the lines.
Getting your book reviewed by popular review sites seems to be the best avenue for promoting yourself these days, although there are still some reviewers who turn up their noses at self-published stuff. Again, Goodreads might be a good resource for finding these, since many review sites post links on GR as well.

I would suggest doing some marketing with children's literature groups or even librarian associations.
