Im interested in the concept of later in life sharing a location /propery with a number of like minded LGT friends. This would be a low cost operation, "non commercial" suitable for able bodied and finiancially self supporting  responsable persons who will all contribute. It will not be a nursing home so  location would ideally be close to shopping and medical facilities.Location or country unknown at this stage, but I would imagine Australia,or any country that allows retirment visas for…Continue

USA:- Boston’s LGBT Aging Project - Gay Seniors, Hidden From the Community

Started by linton. Last reply by sodo man Oct 15, 2012. 1 Reply

We all know that gay people exist and that, as a rule, people age. So why have the LGBT elders remained unseen for so long? This is a cultural phenomenon of sorts that has roots in discrimination. When you envision the average heterosexual elder, they typically have family support from spouses, children and even grandchildren. And their social support systems may include senior…Continue

Arthur Bressan created a gay-America panorama when he commissioned filmmakers throughout the country to record all June 1977 Lesbian and Gay Pride parades and marches. He then cut on-the-street interviews - gay women and men talking about their lovers and how they came out - with the resulting footage, including lesbians marching against housework and drag queens protesting fascism. A revolutionary document."When the Anita Bryant debacle happened I was hurled into making this political…Continue

Museveni's daughter Diana Kamuntu has sent shock waves across Uganda by revealing in a recent radio
shock waves across Uganda by revealing in a recent radio interview that she is a lesbian who has been homosexual since she was a little girl.

In a startling revelation, Ms Kamuntu, admitted yesterday, during a radio talk show in Mbarara, in western Uganda that she is homosexual. She added that she was revealing the fact as a protest against the anti-gay law her father signed late last month, pointing out that although she loves her father unconditionally, she will fight against the new legislation.

On Monday February 24, President Museveni signed Uganda's new and harsh anti-gay bill into law, which punishes first time offenders with 14 years in jail. It also provides life imprisonment as the maximum penalty for aggravated homosexuality defined as repeated gay sex and acts involving a minor, a disabled person or where one partner is infected with HIV.

Yesterday, Ms Kamuntu said: “I am gay and I am homosexual. I have known this since I was a little girl.

"Also, I have been Christian all of my life, so I will not tolerate any law of this supposedly democratic nation, that will place hate on any person just because of what his or her sexual orientation happens to be. Now that I finally revealed my sexual orientation, I put myself in front of this new law and I will let our people decide what to do with me.”

Shocked at the revelation, radio host, James Kasirivu found it hard to continue the interview and the live broadcast was abruptly ended after being punctuated with repeated commercials. Of late, President Museveni has been under intense pressure from international donors following his signing of the Draconian bill and this revelation by his daughter is likely to make life more uncomfortable for him.

Uganda's government has up until now shrugged off foreign aid cuts and international criticism of its tough new anti-homosexuality law, saying it could do without Western aid. President Barack Obama has said that the US will consider its relationship with Uganda following the passing of the new law, while the World Bank suspended the immediate disbursement of a $90m (£54m) loan.

Government spokesman Ofwono Opondo said: “The West can keep their aid to Uganda over homos. We shall still develop without it.

G'day from Melbourne Australia!

I am excited about my upcoming trip:

  • 2013-Sep-06 2013-Sep-16 - Lisboa, Portugal"
  • 2013-Sep-16 2013-Sep-27 - Madrid, Spain (Madrid & Barcelona)*
  • 2013-Sep-16 2013-Sep-27 - Catalonia, Spain (Madrid & Barcelona)*
  • 2013-Sep-28 2013-Oct-07 - Ile-de-France, France (Paris & surrounds)^

At this stage, I am finalising the dates and lengths of stays in each of the places above.

I would like to connect with people in the cities above, as well as hear some suggestions on accommodations that are safe, secure, in the midst of actions, and not too expensive. Or if you have used, or know someone who has, a local travel agency (reputable, with cred and reference) that can help plan my trip (acomms, transpo, etc) that would be great.

I will be travelling with a mate.  And we have a mate (and his partner) who will be showing us around and billeting us in Lisbon.  Happy to still meet and catch up with a few locals! ; )

Here's looking forward to meeting new people and experiencing new adventures!

Cheers, Jeff

PS:  this time, this trip is definitely all-systems-go! : )
