I am starting the research segment of the RTW experience. For me, the airline alliance will play a major role in where and how we reach our destinations. After looking at my frequent flier programs I…Continue

I am happy to join this club- I went around the world around 5 or 6 times in my life, so far, but this makes me HUNGRY for more! The problem now is that my funds weren't like they used to be, and I am embracing the idea of finding more exciting and creative ways to go around the world again and again!
Hello All,
My Husband, Michael, and I did a RTW trip last year! It took three years of planning! The voyage was life changing and we recommend this type of voyage to everyone!!!!!!
The place to begin, of course is figuring out your time frame, and a route. Remember, YOU Can't do IT ALL !!!! Then find a Ticket Broker, we used AirTreks.com, which is located in San Francisco.
We live in Amstedam/Palm Springs and decided to depart from Amsterdam.
We spent a month in the Hawaiian Islands, onto Japan for Three Weeks, Shanghai for two weeks, Hong Kong for two weeks, (we plan to make a return to China for Three months in the future) onto Thailand for three months, Side trips to Laos and Burma, then Jordon for two weeks, Israel for 6 weeks, Egypt for 6 weeks, then back to Amsterdam.
I can offer many recommendations for those countries and other places if you want suggestions. Go start planning MEN!!!! And enjoy!!!!!

Comment by BUTRUILLE, Eric on April 1, 2011 at 1:53 Hello guys,
Having been out of work for a few years (being 48 doesn't help, especially in France...), I'm all set to sell my apt, and leave to HAVE A LIFE ! And meet all my friends scattered around the world, and make many new ones : planning a world tour for 18 to 24 months, hoping to leave in sept or oct 2011 at the latest.
The project is as follows (for now) : Paris-Dubai-Singapour-Indonesia-Malaysia-Southeast Asia-China-Beijing-Tokyo and Japan-Papua-Australia-NZ-Hawaii-Anchorage-Rockies-Vancouver-US West coast, Parks and trip through the US, Mexico, Central America-Grand tour of South America-Africa (maybe)- Back to Paris.
It doesn't include India and around as I know India very well and intend to spend more time there in later years (and countries around ; Sri Lanka, Bengladesh, Pak, Nepal, Bhoutan).
I hope to save as much as possible on accomodation and to learn as much as possible on the cultures, by meeting and staying with friends on CS, Gaytravellersnetwork and other sites. Will keep you posted when my plans get more precise.
