George, Thanks for the info! Would you happen to know the website for the DC Metro? In Houston it's ridemetro.org.

yes you can buy a fare card at any station and put in any value you want. Also if you are coming on a regular bases you can get a Smarttrip card. Makes life easier getting in and out of the metro

Thanks to my friend "oldercub", I will be visiting the DC area about once a month or so. What I'd like to know is who easy is it to get a Metro card? How much and the such. I will be staying in Bethesda, but would like to get in to DC in the evenings to see what's going on. I have already made one trip and hope to be back again soon. So some of my questions may seem trivial, but I hope not.

National Portrait Gallery
Hide/Seek: Difference and Desire in American Portraiture
Oct 30, 2010-Feb 13, 2011

"This is the first major museum exhibition to focus on sexual difference in the making of modern American portraiture."

I really enjoyed this exhibit -- portraits of iconic figures like Walt Whitman, James Baldwin, Bessie Smith, and Gertrude Stein and works by Nan Goldin, Robert Mapplethorpe, Andy Warhol, Annie Leibovitz, and Keith Haring, among others.
