I am a budget traveler and I try to travel 2 or 3 times in a year to see and visit as many countries while I can. I love doing also the " cruise lifestyle" whenever I can and on the budget... I enjoy tropical and exotic countires and are the best places to visit.I also recently visited Copenhagen, Prague and Norway and fell in love with the countries... I love to go back and see more of the scandinavian countries before exploring south america.

Hi! My next trip is to Poland and Hungary in Sept. Can't wait. Actually just booked it yesterday. Cruises can be fun. Once you get on the ship, they're easy and relaxing! And you get to see lots of spots along the way. I hope it works out for you. And thanks for friending me on here.

The Danish are wonderful people and Copenhagen is certainly a beautiful city!
Gran Canaria is part of an archipelago of seven inhabited volcanic islands including Tenerife, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro. All of which were conquered by Spain in the 15th century and are an autonomous region of Spain in the EU. These islands can be found a few miles off the Southwest tip of Morocco in the Atlantic ocean. Most famously Christopher Columbus sailed from Gran Canaria on his voyages of discovery of the New World and you can see his house in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (take a look at my pictures!) where he was based whilst preparing for his voyage and is now a museum. Notoriously General Franco used the Canaries as his base before starting the Spanish Civil War and installing himself as dictator, remaining in power until his death 1975 when the monarchy was restored. Since then Spain has never looked back and is now one of the most liberal thinking societies in Europe! An American climatologist studied 600 cities around the globe and deemed Las Palmas de Gran Canaria as the best climate anywhere! So there you have Gran Canaria and the Canary Islands in a nutshell - you must come and pay us a visit one day!! Why not join the Gran Canaria group here on GTN - we are one of the most popular gay vacation destinations in Europe!! Hugs, Mark xx

Hi Paul, thanks for the invite - accepted with pleasure! My only trip this year off this little rock called Gran Canaria is a week in Amsterdam for Pride in August! Only my second visit to Amsterdam and my first for Pride - it's going to be a blast, I just know it. At least this time I will have a bit more time to explore as the last visit I was only there for 3 days which certainly whet my appetite for more! I am really looking forward to it as I expect to see some long lost friends from the UK.

You are most welcome! The possibilities in the SFV are endless because of the ideal climate. Also, have you considered the xeroscape approach? It's a mind set of water conservation.

I know of many nurseries close by to you. But, here's info to consider flowers that are low maintenance....A dash of color here and there looks great with succulents, agave, yucca, and cacti! Let me know!

Paul, I a native Angeleno so I am familiar with the climate in So Cal. There in the SFV you can pretty much grow anything you'd like in terms of succulents and cacti. The important thing to remember is not to overwater as the will rot into a mush. May I suggest the "New Western Garden Book", publishsed by "SUNSET". Also, if you are not a member of the Huntington Library in San Marino, it is a great place to go and feast on the unsual and rare cacti. There are vendors/growers that bring their offerings there during several times of the year. There is an annual "feeding frenzy" but it occurs in May. Go to: http://huntington.org/
FYI: CACTUS AND SUCCULENT SHOW AND SALE
JUNE 26-27, 10:30 AM-4:30 PM
Hundreds of award-winning plants will be on view, featuring rare specimens native to Chile, Argentina, Botswana, Madagascar, and the Middle East
