I've been to Belize, albeit many years ago. Enjoyed the time there immensely, but not sure I would live there. We tend to flock around areas where there are gay activities (Ft. Lauderdale, Palm Springs, etc) and found that while the area was beautiful, restful, relaxed, there was nothing to occupy the gay mind. As I said it was a number of years ago. Has anything changed over the years?. Is there any kind of a gay community on Belize now??
Comment by Harvey Kidman on August 3, 2012 at 13:51 There are six gay venues here at present B&B, cafe, ranch and beach resorts. Yes I totally agreee that supporting venues are important. They are a bit lacking here. With that said, and the 1-1-13 USA new tax law, (ie 30% new tax on money movements through the US for foreign US Nationals) it is quite close to the US, about two hours from both Houston and Atlantia and much closer to Florida. This may make it very attractive to second home owners who would like move funds from a USD based account here. Visa's available free on arrival, renewable monthly at a cost of $25. USD for 12 months, a second passport may all be attractive at a very low cost.
Comment by Harvey Kidman on August 3, 2012 at 14:15 I would like to propose a self contained gay facility with food, entertainment, pool- clothing optional, palm trees and sand that is located in Belize City. This is the largest city here at about 84,000 and is approx 5 miles to the International Airport BZE. The one I am renting is a 13 bed facility / 14 bath for $3,000 monthly and is for sale at $800,000 on a canal about 1 block from the ocean in Bella Vista, the embassy section of town. I have $200,000 and seeking a few interested individuals. An acre and 1/2 of ocean front land, no buildings is about $800,000 also here in Belize City. The native language is English, banking can be either USD or BZ dollars 1:2 currently. There are many tours and activities to keep one busy for a week or 10 days. Infrastructure is excellent with electric, drinkable water, high speed internet, skype, telephones and lots of cell towers. hkidman@yahoo.com Harvey Kidman Water sports of all types, the 2nd largest barrier reef in the world favorite this as a development area.
