Secret Love at Ostasiatiska Museet

Secret Love at Ostasiatiska Museet  |  Stockholm, Sweden  |  If there is something I love to do when I visit Stockholm, is to come and see the multiple exhibitions that happen all year round and all over the city. My favorites are the photography exhibitions, that you might find at the Fotografiska Museet or in this case at the Ostasiatiska Museet.
Secret Love, is a new look on Love in China. Featuing internationally renowned Chinese artist such as Ma Liuming, Gao Brothers, Chi Peng and Zhang Yuan. The taboo and theme of the exhibition is Secret Love, showing the force of change that is present within Chinese society and what this means to individuals.
The exhibit includes approximately 150 works by twenty seven Chines artists, based on subjects such as identity, norms and sexuality.
Chinese society is experiencing rapid changes, consequences of the past regimes and the effect of internet and social networks. This changes are resulting in shifting views on sexuality and identity. Most particularly evident when it comes to the LGBTQ people. There is a whole section of the exhibit is dedicated to Homosexuality.
The curator of this exhibit is Si Ham. The exhibit will be open till 31st March, 2013. A great option if you happen to be close to Skeppsholmen Island. And if you like Chinese food, there is a great cafe at the ground level serving amazing Noodle Bowls. For more information www.varldskulturmuseerna.se.
